Marriage takes two to make it work. You need to give, in order to get. Your spouse will need to know they have a mate that loves and cares for them through thick and thin, good and bad, rich or poor.
1.) Never go to bed angry with your spouse. If at all possible you should talk it through and work out a solution to what ever the problem is.
2.) Never do anything in the first 2 years of a relationship that you are not willing to do during the whole marriage.
3.) Treat your spouse as an equal.
4.) Take the time to notice the little things your spouse does or has done. A little compliment goes a long ways.
5.) Do not expect anything from your spouse you yourself would not be willing to contribute to the marriage.
6.) Be respectful to your spouse. Do not strike them, swear at them or threaten them. If there are kids in the family they too tend to emulate what they see and hear.
7.) Make sure you tell your spouse you love them at least once a day. It will make you both feel good and will create a very nice atmosphere.
8.) Be faithful. Remember your spouse is suppose to be your one and only.
9.) Honesty. Be honest. Your marriage will not survive without it.
10.) Make sure you set aside time for each other each day. Try to go into a room alone if at home. If you are away form home you should try to lock in a time to talk on the phone. 60 minutes is ideal. However, even 30 minutes is better then nothing.
The rest is up to you. Just remember that you get out of a marriage what you put into the marriage and a happier marriage is far better and easier to be a part of then one filled with doubts and fears.
Bonus tip: Your mate will not always see things as you do. Take this into consideration when communicating with your spouse. Everyone is brought up differently and they see things accordingly.
May all your marriages be happy and may all your dreams come true.
